  • Notes
    • The 1880 Census from Reading, Windsor County, Vermont, listed the househo ld of George's parents:

Amos A. Parker, white male, age 65, b. in VT, Farmer, parents b. in MA.
Almira Parker, wife, white female, age 66, b. in VT, Keeping House, fath er b. in MA, mother b. in CT,
George W. Parker, son, single white male, age 25, b. in VT, Farmer, fath er b. in VT, mother b. in VT,
Otis Faster, brother, single white male, age 72, b. in VT, Farmer, fath er b. in MA, mother b. in CT,
Mary E. Rist, other, single white female, age 38, b. in NY, Servant, fath er b. in VT, mother b. in NY.

Mary E. Rist was the daughter of Elijah and Mary Rist of Thurman, NY. S he would marry George W. Parker. Her age seems to
be incorrectly read on the Census page, as she is generally thought to ha ve been born in 1850, making her about 30 years old
when the Census was taken. Mary's parents, Elijah and Mary Rist had mov ed to Kansas in the early 1870's, so it's my guess
that Mary was farmed out to the Parker family, who may have been dista nt relatives, when her parents left Warrensburgh.
