    • THURMAN -- Patricia Ann (Schermerhorn) Noble Terrell, 75, of Mountain Road, Thurman, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 22, 2011, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Pat was born Jan. 26, 1936, in Lake George, on the top of Prospect Mountain, where her father was Fire Observer for the first eight years of her life.

Throughout high school and for many years after, Pat worked at Farrar's Drug Store and Kugel's, later known as Engle's, Department Store. She taught Sunday school for years at the United Methodist Church of Warrensburg, and more recently, attended The Thurman Baptist Church.

Pat had a very intense memory of history of Lake George and Warrensburg, becoming Town Historian for Warrensburg from 1999 to 2005, assisting in many book writings of the Adirondacks and Fire Towers. Pat gave many historical lectures for area towns in Warren County.

Pat was known throughout the North Country for her hand crafts and her ability to sew and decorate. She taught ceramics and owned her own kilns for the drying of ceramics.

Her cooking career began at her in-laws, "Nobles on Echo Lake" Boarding House. She continued cooking at many local ranches, and for 13 years, she, along with her second husband, Dennis Terrell, managed and cooked at the "Gooley Club" in Indian Lake.

More recently, she opened gift stores around the Warrensburg area, enjoying the many trips she took over the years to the "Amish Country" looking for quaint items.

One of Pat's first true enjoyments was to drive a race car in the "Powder Puff" derbies at the Warrensburg Race Track, which was located behind Ashes Hotel.

Another true enjoyment was helping others, such as volunteering many hours of her time driving handicapped people to doctor appointments, even including trips to Canada to get dental plates made.

Pat enjoyed traveling. One fond trip was with her dear friend, Ruthie Wadsworth, to Old Tucson, Ariz. Most recently, when she was unable to drive, she enjoyed the senior bus shopping trips to Glens Falls.

Pat had a contagious personality and loved visiting with folks, was a jokester, and always had a story to tell.

An example would be Election Day, in both Warrensburg and Thurman, where you would find her sitting at the registration table, greeting the voters.

The Schermerhorn family was very active in The IOOF and Rebecca Lodge. Pat was a past Grand member of the Rebecca's of Warrensburg. Other memberships included many Historical Associations. She also was a member of the Thurman E.M.S., and a five-year member of the Warrensburg E.M.S. as a driver.

Besides her parents, Orson and Linda Izena (Stevens) Schermerhorn, Patricia was predeceased by two sisters, Maxine Keith Baker and Corky Pugh; two husbands, Stanley E. Noble and Dennis Terrell; and also two nieces, Lynn Keith Prespare and Kathy Keith Frulla Harrington.

Survivors include her longtime companion, Kenneth Baker, of Thurman; one son, Scott Noble of Hudson Falls; two daughters, Lee Ann Rafferty and her husband, Jim, of Warrensburg, and Sally Jo Wallace and her husband, Richard Wallace Sr. of Hudson Falls; four grandsons, Jamie Rafferty, Richard Wallace Jr., Tom Noble, and Robbie Noble; three great-grandchildren, Chloe Rafferty and twins, Oliver Vincent and Olivia Darla Pelletier-Wallace; four nephews, Bruce Keith and his wife, Debby, Brian Keith and his wife, Kelly, Duane Pugh, and Greg Pugh; two cousins, Steven and Jeffery Schermerhorn; one stepson, Bruce Terrell and his wife, Marilyn; step-grandchildren; also many dear friends.

Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, and a "surrogate grandmother" to many.

Friends are invited to join the family Saturday, Nov. 26, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.

Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Herrmann, retired pastor of Thurman Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Donations, in loving memory of Pat, may be made to Warrensburg EMS, 3 King Street, Warrensburg, NY 12885.

Condolences may be emailed through www.bakerfuneralhome.com, or mailed to Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, NY 12804.
